Set down a secluded narrow lane off Pabean Beach, the fashionable Majapahit Complex is an enclave of luxury on the east coast. Referred to as ‘Sunrise Road’, recline and experience the warmth of the golden orb as it appears over the horizon each morning. 

Surrounded by waterways with the beach to the front and River Wos idling closely by, the region is a mecca of rice terraces, tobacco plantations and tropical groves that add to the richly diverse environs. The beaches at Sanur and Nusa Dua are within sight, as are the islands of Lembongan, Ceningan and Pendida, so sit and gaze wistfully into the distance as you contemplate the island’s true beauty.

The region has maintained its heritage with many of the Bali’s hidden cultural gems within easy reach. The villages of Ketewel and Saba are only a few kilometres away and are known for their long traditions of local dance; some of the best dining establishments of the island are found in the area; and Ubud – perhaps the most culturally significant community on the island – is just a short taxi ride away.

Ocean views abound from the bedrooms of Villa Maya and guests will sigh at the enchanting beauty. The main two-story pavilion sits at the entrance of the property and opens into a central living and dining area that looks out across the peaceful oceanfront pool and double-Jacuzzi. Open-air pavilions at the far end provide further seating and dining areas away from the main sections of the house; choose to dine here or elect for the start-lit space of the seaside deck.

Three bedrooms are housed in the main section of the property, each with ornate bathrooms and wondrous views out to sea. The master bedroom has the run of the entire top floor with a towering pitched roof, king-sized bed and private terrace with panoramic ocean views. Two guest bedrooms sit below and are equally well appointed; luxuriously furnished and offering the utmost comfort to guests.
